Maa Mahagauri 8th Form Of Goddess Durga​

The eighth day of Navratri is famous as the name of Durga Asthami or Maha Ashtmi which is devoted to Maa Mahagauri. She has four arms carrying a Trishul and in other damru and other two hands keep in the motion of Abhay and varad mudras.

Maa Mahagauri rides on a white bull which has a tiger’s skin on the back and a bell in the neck.

As per Sanatan Hindu methodology, Devi Shailputri was very beautiful with a fair complexion at a young age. Due to her extreme fairness, she was named Mahaguri and she has the power to accomplish all the desires of her devotees. On this day, people generally observe fast to please Mata.

This is the form of Goddess Parvati when she did austerity to get Lord Shiva as her husband.
The eighth day of Navratri Puja is as important as Durga Ashtami in many regions especially in North, and North-east India. If Devotees worship after fast he/she gets blessings immediately.

Shardiya Navratri 2023 Ghatasthapana Muhurat:

According to the Panchang, the auspicious time for establishing Kalash on Pratipada Tithi of Shardiya Navratri 2023 i.e. The first day is from 11:48 am to 12:36 pm on 15th October. In such a situation, the auspicious time for establishing the Kalash will be only 48 minutes this year.

22 October 2023 – Goddess Maa Mahagauri (Eighth Day), Durga Ashtami

You can worship her in front of deity or photo of Goddess Parvati Mata in Lord Shiva temple one can worship Maa MahaGauri. She appeared in the form of Maa Ambaji, Maa Kalika ji etc.

The devotees should do the eighth day of Navratri puja with true devotion and pure mind so that Maa fulfils all their desires.

On the Ashtami Tithi of Navratri puja, every married women should offer the red Chunri to Maa Mahagauri for the long life of their husbands.

Mata’s favourite colour is white. So she loves white flowers and red too. The most lovely flower for Maa Mahagauri is Jasmine.

Significance:

Maa Mahagauri is the eighth form of Goddess Maa Durga, and she is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri. Her worship is believed to bestow purity, peace, and wisdom upon her devotees. She is associated with the removal of impurities, ignorance, and the granting of spiritual insight.

  • Fair Complexion: Her fair complexion symbolizes purity, serenity, and the removal of darkness or impurities, both external and internal.
  • White Attire: The white clothing signifies innocence, clarity, and a peaceful nature.
  • Trident: The trident represents the power to destroy evil and ignorance.
  • Damaru: The Damaru symbolizes the rhythm of the universe and her control over time and space.
  • Bull: The bull is her vahan (vehicle), symbolizing patience and strength.
