Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram will go to polls on different days from 7 November to 30 November 2023 and votes will be counted for the five States on 3rd December 2023, the Election Commission of India (ECI) said on October 9.
Nearly 16 crore voters would be eligible to cast their votes in these assembly elections, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said at a press conference while asserting that strong measures are being implemented to make these polls inducement-free. 1.77 lakh polling stations will be set up in 679 assembly constituencies.
Mr Kumar said with over 940 inter-state border check posts in five states, any cross-border movement of illicit cash, liquor, freebies and drugs would be checked. As many as 1.77 lakh polling stations will be set up in 679 assembly constituencies.
